I recently had a peaceful weekend getaway to Tbilisi, Georgia. I remember looking up places I wanted to visit months before moving overseas, and this one was definitely one of them. This time of year was perfect, as I wanted to escape to a country not too far but one that still made me feel I was in a new location. I also needed a place that made me feel like the season had changed and some relief from the heat in the UAE. Between the subtle chill and colorful architecture, I was not disappointed at all. This destination is definitely overlooked. If you’re looking for a small city with big charm, here’s where you should be!

You know that trip to Oahu, Hawaii I took for my birthday? Yeah, that one! Well, I didn’t get a chance to go to a black sand beach because our schedules were already booked for a luau and snorkeling. So when the beau and I decided to take a road trip to Northern California for a quick weekend get-away, he left me to plan the adventure.
How it all began?
I already knew I wanted to go to Muir National Monument Park. Wrote that down, set it in stone. We considered Yosemite and Redwoods National Park but both were a 4 hour drive away from where we were staying. So I typed on Google, “black sands beach” and bam! Up pops a real picture of someone standing on black sand on my screen. And tah dah!!! We drove and drove and drove, and yeah we made it!
There were a lot of precious moments shared that weekend.
-Spending time with the beau and his family.
-Breath being taken away by the gorgeous mountain views, clear water, and crisp air. I must add…the water was freezing!
-Hand-holding and sneaking kisses because young eyes were around.
-Watching the beau succeed in climbing yet another huge rock, Invincible!
-The release of negative emotions and doubts that sometimes cloud our judgement.
This year’s birthday was an absolute dream come true. I celebrated my 27 Spins Around the Sun on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I have always dreamed of visiting Hawaii. So much, to the point that, birthdays from 12-21 were all “luau” themed. To my parents luck, they were always able to use the same decorations and I was never disappointed. Hawaii was everything I ever dreamed of…from the food, fun, and of course the beach, I was indeed destined to experience FUN IN THE SUN. This is by far, the best birthday celebration yet!
As part of my transition to living a minimalist lifestyle, I am working to making my trips away apart of that as well. Check this link to help with packing for your next trip. This 4 day round trip from Las Vegas to Honolulu required little prepping and packing.
Purposeful Packing Tip: Small luggage and a carry on bag. No check-in needed! Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Steps away from the beautiful sands of Waikiki Beach lies Pacific Beach Hotel. Pacific Beach Hotel has newly renovated rooms that were modern and very clean. The hotel is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and cafes.
As transportation to get around the island I used Uber. (Need the promo code for $$ off, comment below!)
We also rented a car from Enterprise using Expedia. The pick-up location is a short walk away from the hotel.
–Waimanalo Beach State Park– My preference for white sand and less tourists.
-Go snorkeling in North Shore. This was an adventure list item I was able to cross off the list. The experience was breath-taking…literally!
-Stop by the Makapu’u lighthouse before landing at Makapu’u Beach.
-Hike to Manoa Falls.
We rented a car for a day, which allowed us to navigate the island a little more and go off the beaten path.
-Street Art in The Ward Village District
-Makapu’u Tide Pools

Adventure Thrill List: Snorkeling
This trip I decided to cross a thrill off my list in Ko’Olina. Snorkeling in 35 ft. of water with fish, turtles, and other beautiful sea creatures. You can either go during the day to possibly catch a sight of a few dolphins or in the evening to watch the sunset on the horizon. This experience included dinner and drinks. Well worth it!
